Dr. Kontovazainitis started working as an Assistant in Anatomy, while he was still a student at the Medical School of the University of Athens in the year 1995. Later, from November 1999 till January 2000, he spent three months as a Physical in the Orthopaedic Section of Lamia Hospital. He served his rural duty as a Rural Physician at the Regional Clinic of Molos, in Fthiotida from February 2000 to February 2001. Shortly after that, he was for nine months a Trainee Physician of General Surgery in Penteli’s 1st Social Insurance Institute, Papadimitriou Hospital, and afterwards he became Instructor at the Public VTI of Lamia in the Nursing-Traumatology Department, where he spent one and a half years (September 2001 - February 2002). During his military service, he was a Sergeant Doctor in the Hellenic Air Force, from March 2002 till October 2003, spending eight months as an Orthopedic Trainee at 251 HAF Hospital in the Department of Sports Injuries and Arthroplasty. In addition, he specialized in hip and knee arthroplasty and injury and in sports injuries at the Athens Medical Center Hospital, and in microsurgery at the KAT Research Center. From 2004 till 2009, he was a Resident in Orthopaedics at the 1st University Orthopaedic Clinic of KAT Hospital, where he spent three years in the Sports Injury and Arthroplasty Department.
Dr. Kontovazainitis has extensive experience abroad gained through his cooperation with the Orthopaedic Department of St. Mary's Hospital in London (U.K.), the Orthopaedic Department at the Avon Orthopaedic Center in Bristol(U.K.), the Orthopaedic Clinic of the Houston-TexasMedical Center (U.S.A.) and the Sports Medicine Institute at the University of Baylor (U.S.A.).
Since 2009, maintains a private practice in Athens, specializing in sport injuries, trauma and hip-knee arthroplasty.
