Hair Transplantation Techniques
Hair transplantation is a surgical procedure and it is performed only in a fully equipped medical office, by a qualified and certified surgeon and a trained surgical team of technicians. The process of hair transplantation begins with the preparation of the donor area, the area at the back and the sides of the head where we will harvest the hair follicles. These hair follicles will never fall.
There are 2 different techniques in hair transplantation surgery, FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) and FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation). The only difference of these two techniques is the way of removing hair follicles from the donor area, as all the other steps of the surgery are the same.
With the FUT technique, the hair follicles are removed in a row from the donor area. With the FUE technique, the hair follicles are removed one by one from the donor area. ALL other technical details and steps of hair transplant surgery are the same for both techniques.
How it is performed
Both in the FUT and the FUE technique, the hair follicles are extracted from the donor area (on the back or the sides of the scalp). In these areas, hair follicles are genetically programmed to continue growing throughout the person’s life without ever being affected by the androgens that initially caused hair loss. And this property is preserved forever, wherever we transplant them! These follicular units, after preparing them under specific stereoscopy, are repositioned in the empty or diluted areas of the scalp. In their new position, the transplanted hair follicles grow for the rest of the person’s life, they never fall, they produce normal hairs that grow and they can be combed and cut like the rest of the hair.
